BYD the world's largest manufacture of rechargeable batteries, has announced the collaboration with inverter specialist KOSTAL. KOSTAL has lined-up BYD's high-voltage lithium battery storage solution B-Box HV, the latest addition to its B-Box line of easy-to-install modular battery cabinets, for the use with the PIKO inverter line. The combined system of battery and battery inverter can be used for both commercial and residential applications.

"Today customers are looking for flexible energy storage systems that can grow with their evolving energy demands "“ our flexible modular B-Box product line has been developed to fulfil this need," said Julia Chen, Global Sales Director, BYD Batteries. "We are delighted to partner with KOSTAL, as they are following a similar approach with their inverters, focusing strongly on the flexibility for a wide field of applications in addition to quality and efficiency of the systems. This way we can provide both partners and end customers with a qualified combination of best-in-breed solutions to optimize their use of renewable energy."

B-Box HV is the first direct high-voltage energy storage solution through serial connection of battery cells with a patented plug-in modular design. Key advantage of the high-volt storage system: the energy is already coherent with the voltage of most PV systems and the grid, so conversion losses are minimized and the system is even more efficient. The new system employs the successful modular design of the B-Box series with battery capacities ranging from 6.4 to 11.5 kWh, providing more than enough energy for the average household and can be scaled up to 58 kWh for commercial and industrial applications. The series offers a wide range of capabilities to meet light to heavy electrical load usage, off-grid or on-grid, single-phase or three-phase applications.

"BYD's new B-Box HV system offers both commercial and private users improved storage options," said Christofer Kiesel, Product Manager for PV inverters and storage systems at KOSTAL. "We were impressed with the modular design concept of the B-Box series which provides flexibility to meet customer needs with a low initial investment in a system capacity covering their current demand but allows convenient extendibility to increase power capacity throughout the product's lifetime for all future applications. The patented plug-in design to connect the modules without the need for cable connection also makes the installation extremely easy. Therefore we are delighted to qualify the B-Box HV for the use with our PIKO inverters."
