UK Touching 13 GW Of Solar Power Installed
According to statistics released from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the UK added 11 MW (3,125 installations) of new PV systems in June 2017, a decrease from 16 MW in May 2017 and 224 MW in June 2016.
The main drivers (53 percent of capacity) were small residential systems with a capacity of 0 to 4 kW.
To date, 46 percent (5,809 MW) of total installed solar PV capacity comes from large scale installations greater than 5 MW, with 20 percent (2,498 MW) coming from small scale 0 to 4 kW installations.
Within the last two years, the largest increase in capacity occurred in March 2016 (1,253 MW), just before the RO was closed to 50 kW to 5 MW installations and before the final closure of the RO to grace period larger than 5 MW sites. Of the increase in capacity seen that month, 54 percent (680 MW) was seen in larger than 5 MW installations.
