Mounting Systems secures contract for Egypt's largest solar park

News

Mounting Systems, international manufacturers of tracker solutions for photovoltaic systems, has been awarded a further contract for a 64 MWp project in Benban, Egypt. After completion, the system will be providing electricity for more than 20,000 households. The major contract will be carried out together with the main contractor ib vogt GmbH.

By 2020, 20 per cent of Egypt's entire energy needs are to be covered by renewable energies. As part of the support programme for the expansion of renewable energies, a solar park with a total output of 1.8 GWp will be built in Benban, 650 kilometres south of Cairo. With an output of 154 GWh, the sub-plot of 95 hectares now to be completed (around 90 football fields) will save around 68,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Mounting Systems is delivering more than 650 uniaxial trackers for the solar park. It involves an intelligent tracking system which automatically orientates the solar modules towards the sun. The trackers have a high ability to adapt to local conditions, offer excellent protection against corrosion and feature low energy consumption and minimal wear. In addition, the system is pre-mounted and supplied with minimal freight volume. This reduces the overall costs of the project.

"We are delighted about our follow-up contract which once again proves the high product and service quality for our projects of this size," says Michael Sehner, CEO of Mounting Systems. "Our investment in recent years in further developing our product portfolio and optimising our global delivery performance has now paid off," adds Sehner.

The completion of the solar part is planned for January 2019.
