Sungrow Signs Supply Agreement for a 400 MW PV Project in Chile

News

Sungrow has signed an agreement with Enel Green Power Chile to supply its featured 1500Vdc central inverter solutions to a 400 MW PV farm in Copiapo, Chile. Reportedly the largest PV plant to be constructed in the country to date, this project demonstrates another milestone for Sungrow's performance in the utility-scale solar segment in Latin America.

The PV plant is located in one of the driest places on the earth, the Atacama Desert, and is expected to commence construction this year. This desert is home to many of Chilean solar farms due to the optimal climate conditions for this technology, high radiation and medium temperature. Sungrow's 6.25 MW turnkey solution for 1500Vdc systems, featuring unmatched efficiency of up to 99% and maximum DC/AC ratio of up to 1.5, is an ideal solution for the utility-scale PV farm in this region. Notably, the solution is in compliance with the Chilean codes for earthquakes and is extremely resilient to the severe conditions.

The renowned Italy-based entity, Enel is one of the world's biggest utility company. "Sungrow is an important worldwide player in the energy industry. Its 22-year experience gives us the confidence to be working with a reliable partner in order to achieve the best results in this PV project," said Valter Moro, General Manager of Enel Green Power Chile, the renewables subsidiary of the Enel Group in Chile.

Since opening its Chilean branch in 2017, Sungrow accelerated its expansion into the country with growing products portfolio alongside its rapidly scaling service platform. Notably, the Company closed 2018 with more than 50 MW in PMGD (Pequeños Medios de Generación Distribuida) projects. "We are proud to be a part of the 400 MW project in Chile, a landmark installation which represents our commitments to decarbonize process that Chile is living," said Gonzalo Feito, Country Manager of Sungrow Chile.

"There is an incredible demand for renewable energy in Latin America, in particular Chile, Brazil and Argentina. We have seen through our efforts an intense desire by the people and government to continue evolving in ways to the grid parity and a cleaner future," he added.
