BayWa r.e. recognised for quality PV operation services in Spain

News

Global renewable energy developer, service provider and wholesaler, BayWa r.e. has obtained the Spanish seal of quality for O&M services, APPLUS-AEMER. It is only the second company to achieve this recognition for its work on photovoltaic installations.

Awarded by Spain’s maintenance association AEMER, the Quality Seal allows companies, like BayWa r.e. to be identified for their excellence in O&M. Its goal is to boost the quality of maintenance services in Spain’s renewable energy sector. It helps to reassure and acts as a guarantee of professionalism and high-quality service for customers.

Managing 7 GW of renewable energy assets globally, BayWa r.e. currently looks after 250 MW of solar power in Spain. This includes its ground-breaking Don Rodrigo plant just outside Seville – the largest of its kind to be built without the help of government subsidies.

“Spain is a hugely important market for us, and we’re one of the few companies here with the financial power and capacity to support utility-scale PV projects,” says Tobias Bittkau, BayWa r.e.’s Global Director of Services.

“In Don Rodrigo we’ve constructed and are successfully operating a megaplant, and we’re ready to take on more. This recognition from AEMER will only help cement our reputation in Spain and beyond.”

Through the Quality Seal and by standardising procedures, APPLUS-AEMER hopes to inspire confidence, security and satisfaction in potential investors, thus generating growth, consolidation and professionalism of the sector.

Claus Bünermann, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. España S.L.U. said, “We’re very proud to be among the first companies to achieve the Quality Seal, helping us to stand out for our professionalism and the quality of our maintenance services. Delivering excellent customer service is our number one priority.
“Located in Barcelona and Madrid our experienced O&M-team covers the whole of Spain. We’re always available for our customers and, with additional support from our Munich-based control centre, our service offers superior quality at great value.”

Alberto Ceña, from AEMER said “It was a complex task to define the criteria for quality, and to reach a consensus within the sector. But we’re confident that our quality seal will have a positive impact on the market, and we want to congratulate BayWa r.e. on being one of the first companies to achieve these high standards for their photovoltaic maintenance services.”

In addition, BayWa r.e. recently has, for the second time, obtained the "Solar O&M Best Practices Mark" certification for its O&M services in Europe. The Solar O&M Best Practice Mark 2019 is an evolution of the 2018 mark, which was developed by the O&M Task Force of SolarPower Europe, the European association of the solar industry. The mark rewards companies that can demonstrate excellence in photovoltaic plant O&M activities.
