Indium Corporation To Support Over 5GW Of Solar PV Production
The company claims the ability to support 5GW of PV production and supply enough material.
Indium Corporation announces that it is able to support over 5 gigawatt (GW) in 2009 of solar PV production, specifically indium and gallium for CIGS. Although 2009 CIS/CIGS production is estimated at a half (0.5) GW, Indium Corporation is able to supply enough material for over five (5) GW in 2009. Indium continues to develop advanced process technology and add production capacity to ensure ongoing material availability for applications such as solar PV.
Indium and gallium materials are key components of CIS/CIGS absorber layers, as well as indium tin oxide (ITO) and indium zinc oxide (IZO), for transparent conductor layers (TCO).
According to Gregory Phipps, Indium Corporation Vice President, “Indium Corporation is highly confident of its ability to fully supply solar grade indium and gallium for decades to come. The value we provide to the solar PV industry is dependable supply, consistently high quality materials, and application engineering to help cell/module manufacturers ramp quickly and reduce their cost structure”. Phipps added, “Indium Corporation has been working with indium material for over seventy years, more experience in time and quantity than anyone else worldwide.”
