Enerparc connects 32 MW solar power plant to the grid
Enerparc and the Association Delitzsch-Southwest have jointly inaugurated the 32 MW photovoltaic plant today. After receiving the final building permits on May 21st , the solar power plant was fully operational in record time after only six weeks of construction. Since August, the power plant, as big as 140 football pitches, produces clean energy from the sun for nearly 10,000 homes per year.
"This photovoltaic power plant falls into a series of successful projects that make untapped commercial space usable again," said the Mayor of Delitzsch Manfred Wilde and Association deputy chairman Christine Lösch in unison. "Delitzsch has many sunny days and environmentally friendly solar farms are a sustainable investment for not only our industrial area. They contribute to the attractiveness of the whole region, which is particularly active in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy."
Most of the underused industrial areas, particularly in the eastern regions of Germany, are perfectly suitable for the construction of solar power plants. Not least since the amendment of the EEG, large-scale solar projects in industrial areas became more and more interesting for many investors and local authorities. These underused industrial areas often provide ideal conditions for a quick and smooth implementation by already existing links to roads and medium voltage networks, as well as well-proportioned building foundations. Solar farms on rural agricultural land are often contrary to nature conservancy in the initial construction phase. Large-scale solar installations on former industrial land, however, give old abandoned industrial areas a sustainable value and provide a real benefit to nature conservation right from the start. By leasing or selling the land, communities highly benefit from the revitalization of former industrial areas through solar farms.
The solar park Delitzsch was developed by the Enerparc team Leipzig and financed and implemented by Enerparc group. The unused commercial space in the city Delitzsch was sold to the Enerparc group in May. The construction of large-scale solar plant took only six weeks. In record time, over 140,000 solar modules were mounted on an area of about 51 hectares and produce now more than 30 million kilowatt hours of climate-friendly electricity per year. By this carbon dioxide emissions can be decreased by over 21,000 tons per year, compared to conventional.
"150 container of modules had to be mounted to over 50 kilometers of mounting systems. This was achieved in this short time only thanks to an established team and in close collaboration with all partners involved. I especially thank our supporters in the region who have made the project possible, "said Olaf Koeppen, architect at Enerparc.
