Uruguay UTE agrees to a 30 year PV purchase plan
Uruguay's national electricity company, Usinas & Transmisiones Electricas (UTE) has signed a purchase agreement with Raditon SA and Sky Energy to buy electricity from two soalr farms for a thirty year period.
Industry Minister Ing. Roberto Kreimerman said that this type of agreement brought the country to a strong position in addressing renewable energy. This project aims to promote a new industrial sector in the country promoting the use of clean energy in a natural setting. This is the result of a consensus among the various players in the country, with a transformation of the energy matrix and further development towards a fairer and more inclusive society energy plan.
The 30-year contract involves two solar farms, one of 1.8 megawatts and an 8 MW. The parks are installed near the industrial sector of the city of Paysandu. The output is expected to be about 50MW of annual production. This will be the first assembly plant of its kind in Uruguay.
