News

Global renewable energy developer, service provider and wholesaler, BayWa r.e. is delighted to announce the appointment of Gordon MacDougall as Managing Director of its UK Projects business.

With primary responsibility for the leadership and development of BayWa r.e.'s UK Projects business, Gordon will play a key role in driving forward BayWa r.e.'s investment strategy in the UK in addition to building on the company's outstanding reputation for renewables development and project delivery to its customers.

Gordon MacDougall brings with him over 15-years of experience and knowledge of the renewables sector. Gordon previously held the position of Managing Director, Western Europe for RES UK & Ireland, overseeing their development, construction, operations management and M&A activities in the region. Prior to his appointment at RES, Gordon worked for ScottishPower Renewables as Strategy and Investment Director. He also served a three-year term in the position of Vice Chairman on the Board of the Scottish Renewables association, the industry body for renewables in Scotland.

Commenting on the appointment, Katy Hogg, Global Co-head of Wind Projects for BayWa r.e. noted that: "Gordon's experience and proven track record in the industry are second to none and we are delighted to have him on board. Attracting someone of Gordon's calibre into the business is a great endorsement of our strategy and confirms our continued growth ambitions for our UK business.

"As we transition to a low carbon, subsidy-free market in the UK, we have a tremendous opportunity to grow our presence and continue to diversify into new technologies, whilst ensuring our strong business values and project delivery are preserved to match the demands and expectations of our customers. Gordon's experience will be vital to this growth as we continue our plans to acquire, develop and construct renewables projects in the UK."

MacDougall added: "We are in an excellent position to capitalise on the growth opportunities presented by falling capital costs for renewables and continued industry support to achieve a truly low carbon economy in the UK. BayWa r.e.'s reputation, company values and proven project delivery capabilities are assets that I believe will continue to support our success in this evolving marketplace, and I am excited to be on board and part of the great team that will take our business to the next level."
