SOLARWATT Extends KEBA Partnership

News

SOLARWATT, manufacturer of complete photovoltaic systems, is extending its long-standing international relationship with KEBA to offer smart solar-powered charging for electric vehicles in the UK.

SOLARWATT has worked with the e-mobility solutions manufacturer in international markets for several years. The German company's recently upgraded 3.0 EnergyManager provides a seamless control platform for KEBA's ultra-versatile KeContact P30 electric vehicle charging station.

Both companies work closely with the inverter manufacturer Fronius and all three have extensive and growing installer networks in the UK, supported by professional training programmes.

E-mobility has prompted a surge in interest from people seeing the benefit of home electric vehicle charging with free, rooftop-generated electricity that's also fast, safe and easy. SOLARWATT will be showcasing its partnership with KEBA and Fronius at Build It's Self Build Education House*, a real-life, access-all-areas project at Graven Hill, Bicester, providing insights into the process of creating a bespoke clean energy home.

The partnership is the latest step in SOLARWATT's drive to provide complete systems that integrate multiple energy functions. Detlef Neuhaus, CEO, said: "The global fight against climate change will only be successful if we think about the sustainable energy transition, the transport transition and the thermal energy transition as one. Our solar system integrates all household applications that previously consumed a lot of fossil energy - heating, cooling, hot water, and mobility besides electric power generation itself.”

Solar PV with storage has emerged as a growing trend among UK householders and businesses, driven by a desire for energy independence and concerns over utility prices and climate change.

“Our UK tie-up with KEBA is a superior technical combination that takes an established international partnership much further, opening the way for more efficient, robust and economical EV charging where people live and work,” said Neal Goddard, SOLARWATT UK Sales Manager.

“Clearly this is a growing relationship and by acting in partnership with KEBA we can provide market-leading products and support, with continuing innovation to a fast-moving e-mobility market in the UK.”

Home and business users want to replace costly grid-supplied energy with free, roof-generated power, manage energy distribution between home appliances and manage electric vehicle charging. They also require fast EV charging speeds and to be able to pre-programme car charging for set distances.

KEBA has supplied more than 150,000 chargepoints worldwide under the banner "Automation by innovation". The Austrian company's products are available through Romatech, its strategic partner and distributor for the UK market.

Accessing self-generated solar power makes sense economically as well as ecologically as the cost is generally significantly lower than using public charging points, grid power or fossil fuels. The UK is committed to be carbon net-zero by 2050 and most householders are eligible for Government grants of up to £500 for EV charger installation.

Emma Hunter, Director of Romatech, said: “People want a fast, reliable, and secure chargepoint today and for the future. SOLARWATT's EnergyManager advanced control system makes it a great match for KEBA and for our clean energy mission - and ideal for UK homes.”
