News

Dr Armin Froitzheim

Dr Armin Froitzheim joined SOLARWATT GmbH as CTO (Chief Technology Officer) on 1 October. He has taken responsibility for both research and development as well as the operations division of the Dresden-based solar power system provider. Dr Achim Wörner, Chairman of the SOLARWATT Board of Directors, says: "We are very pleased to have won such an experienced solar expert as CTO in Dr. Froitzheim. SOLARWATT thus continues its consistent focus on technological leadership and takes the next step towards sector coupling."

Expand technological leadership

Dr Froitzheim (50) studied physics at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and received his doctorate from the Hahn-Meitner-Institut in Berlin and the University of Marburg. After working for Ersol Solar Energy AG and Bosch Solar Energy, he spent four years in Arnstadt as Director of Operations in charge of cell and panel production at SolarWorld. Most recently, Froitzheim was Head of Engineering Operations Services at Berliner Glas. "SOLARWATT is what you can safely call a torch bearer for the energy revolution. I am pleased to play my part in helping the company further expand its position as an innovator," explains Dr. Froitzheim.

SOLARWATT on course for growth

Distributing company leadership responsibilities is a direct consequence of the growth the company has seen. 2020 marks the latest year in a series of continued growth and is expected to end with a 40% increase in revenue. SOLARWATT CEO, Detlef Neuhaus, confirms: “2020 will be another year with record revenues in the company’s 27-year history, but we cannot rest on our laurels. Our strategic focus on sector coupling requires even more intense innovation. With his expertise, Dr. Froitzheim will make a significant contribution to achieving our goals in the coming years.”

According to Neuhaus, the positive company development at SOLARWATT is also reflected in the number of employees: "In 2020, we will create more than 100 new jobs in all divisions – and this growth will continue in years to come. We offer many attractive jobs in a variety of disciplines in a future-oriented industry. Anyone who wants to help shape the future of energy supply in an innovative company is very welcome at SOLARWATT," says Neuhaus.
