BPCL Sets Up PV Project
Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) plans its first photovoltaic power project.
Public sector oil marketing company BPCL announced its decision to set up its first PV power project in India with a capacity of 1MW. To set up this power plant, BPCL has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Punjab Energy Development Agency. It is planned to build operate and own the plant within the next 8-10 months at Lalru in Mohali.
The plant is the first solar based power project in Mohali and power generated will be fed into the state grid at a tariff of Rs 8.93 per unit.
This plant will be a pilot project and it will be decided whether other projects will be launched on the base of its success. BPCL also plans to set up wind power projects in Gujarat, Rajastan, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and has successfully commissioned a wind energy project in Karnataka.
