Solar-Fabrik Has New Chairman
New chairman Günter Weinberger takes office.
The new CEO of Solar-Fabrik, Günter Weinberger, introduced himself to his colleagues and the press at a conference held on 7th January, his first day in office. This follows the announcement by the supervisory board shortly before Christmas that there would be a change in leadership. In spring 2009, Solar-Fabrik will be commissioning a third solar module production facility in Freiburg.
Alfred T. Ritter, chairman of the Supervisory Board, explained the circumstances leading to the leadership change as follows: "The supervisory board has been seeking to strengthen the management board since July of last year, and was looking, in particular, for an individual with a more technical background. After the decision had been made to appoint Mr Günter Weinberger as the next CEO, Mr Christoph Paradeis, who had previously occupied this position, was offered the position of CFO. Mr Paradeis decided, however, to submit a request for resignation. The Supervisory Board regrets this decision.
After occupying several management positions at Siemens and Infineon, new CEO Günter Weinberger was CEO of the US mobile communications company Sandbridge Technologies from 2002 until now. He expressed the following sentiments regarding his new role at Solar-Fabrik: "I appreciate the new challenge in this exciting international market and market environment. The photovoltaic product and technology is clearly future oriented, with a huge growth potential, and requires all the management attention of a young but maturing industry. I'm looking forward to working with the team towards future success and leading Solar-Fabrik to an even brighter future."
