IBC SOLAR Joins Up With KPM SUN
IBC SOLAR has acquired shares in KPM SUN, a developer of photovoltaic parks. With this collaboration, IBC SOLAR will expand its international, large-scale
project business.
The KPM SUN group was founded by experienced photovoltaic specialists, who have successfully developed and marketed PV projects throughout Europe. The executive partners of the KPM SUN group, Stefan Kasterka, Dr. Peer Piske and Martin Müller, can boast of 100 MWp of installed output and successfully completed individual projects with an output of up to 20 MWp. The main areas of expertise of KPM SUN cover international product development, project management and marketing of
photovoltaic power stations, together with ongoing operation and maintenance.
Previously, the managers of KPM SUN developed a solar power station with a power output of 20 MWp in Benexiama, in the Spanish province of Alicante, worth 125 million Euro. From 2006 to 2007, the largest photovoltaic power station in the world was built there with a surface area of 500,000 square metres that approximately equals 71 football fields. Since then, 100,000 modules produce solar power for more than 12,000 households. Furthermore, 30,000 tonnes of CO2 are saved per year
and approximately 750,000 tonnes over the power station's lifespan of 25 years.
“In KPM SUN we have gained a specialist with expertise in project development and the marketing of large-scale solar power stations,” comments Udo Möhrstedt, chairman of IBC SOLAR AG. “Together with KPM SUN we will expand our large-scale project business further and strengthen the international position of the entire IBC SOLAR group. In the long-term, this strategic step forward will help IBC SOLAR to gain market share, especially in the large-scale project business.”
