Pasan Announces Japanese Success
Pasan SA, a Swiss company for photovoltaic testing equipment has successfully delivered a sun simulator for the testing of very large solar modules to the Japanese company Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC). After the successful selection by the TüV Rheinland of Japan, this is another success for Pasan SA. MCC is the first customer of Pasan in the Japanese PV Industry. Pasan SA is a member of the Meyer Burger Technology Group.
MCC is one of the three core companies of the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group (MCHC Group), which is Japan's leading group providing cutting-edge products and technologies over a broad range of applications: performance products, health care and chemicals, with a turnover of 2'909 billion yen in the 2008 fiscal year. The development of second generation thin-film photovoltaic modules is one of seven next-generation growth areas identified by MCC. Large size BIPV modules based on amorphous thin films will be the first step in this new business development.
MCC has selected Pasan because of the technology leadership and the outstanding performance of its products as well the local presence via the joint service base that Pasan has established together with 3S Swiss Solar Systems and Somont. In early January, Pasan successfully commissioned PV performance measurement equipment in the Yokkaichi plant of MCC. Like all Pasan sun simulators, this equipment enables very accurate measurement of PV modules, particularly due to outstanding spectral match and light uniformity. Furthermore, this tester is designed for measuring flexible a-Si modules up to 2 m x 4 m in an industrial production line.
Pasan is proud to support MCC in their PV business development. The Japanese market is very demanding in terms of performance and service and Pasan is very happy to strengthen its position with this reference customer. In early 2009, Pasan had already installed equipment at the renowned certifying body TÜV Rheinland in Yokohama.
