2011: The 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition will take place in Hamburg, Germany

WIP, organiser of the EU PVSEC, announces today that the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (26th EU PVSEC) will be held in Hamburg, Germany, in 2011. The event will be hosted by the CCH - Congress Centre and International Fair Hamburg. The Conference will take place during 5 days from 5-9 September 2011, the Exhibition will run over 4 days from 5-8 September 2011.

Having occupied 65,000 sqm in Hamburg in 2009, the exhibition area for the 26th EU PVSEC will be expanded in 2011. Further modern exhibition halls in section A of the International Fair Hamburg will be integrated to offer a total exhibition space of more than 80,000 sqm. In addition to the ever more comprehensive Scientific Conference Programme, the 26th EU PVSEC will be complemented by sessions on PV industry related topics, with new applications, ideas and solutions for cell and module production. The Programme will incorporate extra auditoria and lecture rooms in the exhibition area with up to 800 seats, supplemental to the facilities in the CCH - Congress Centre Hamburg. A continuous shuttle service ensures that all visitors and delegates will conveniently commute between all exhibition halls and all conference facilities.

EU PVSEC Executive Director, Peter Helm, states: "On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the first German feed-in law, the 26th EU PVSEC will take place in Germany in 2011. The event, with its sustained support from international organisations, will honour this law's pioneering role for the development of the global PV markets, for the emergence of the PV industry, and as a catalyst for international world class research. We look forward to welcoming you in Hamburg next year to discuss the developments and strategies towards 2020 and beyond."

The EU PVSEC is held at different venues throughout Europe, and ranks as the world's leading event specialized in photovoltaics. It is supported by European and international organisations such as the European Commission, UNESCO - United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation - Natural Sciences Sector, WCRE - World Council for Renewable Energy, the International Photovoltaic Equipment Association (IPVEA) and by a close institutional cooperation with the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA).

The CCH - Congress Centre and International Fair Hamburg is predestined as venue for an international event like the 26th EU PVSEC, due to its perfect infrastructure and superior location in the centre of Hamburg. The proximity to Hamburg's airport, the ICE high speed train station just in front of the CCH, the many hotels of all categories located close-by, and the easy access to the public transport system add to the comfort and contribute to a successful participation for all delegates, exhibitors and visitors.

This year, the 25th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition / 5th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (25th EU PVSEC / WCPEC-5) takes place in Valencia, Spain, from 6-10 September 2010 (Conference 6-10 September 2010 - Exhibition 6-9 September 2010). The WCPEC-5 combines the three most important global scientific and strategic PV Conferences: the 25th EU PVSEC, the 36th US IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference and the 20th Asia/Pacific PV Science and Engineering Conference. Together with the EU PVSEC's PV Industry Exhibition on 80,000 sqm, this unique PV solar gathering constitutes the world's leading science-to-science, business-to-business and science-to-industry forum for the global PV solar sector.
