Dow Corning Announce Solar VP

Dow Corning Corporation has  announced that it has named Dan Futter as vice president of Dow Corning's Solar and Wind Solutions businesses, effective September 1, 2012.  Futter brings nearly two decades of technical and management experience to his role leading Dow Corning's Solar and Wind Energy Solutions business division.

"Dow Corning collaborates with leading solar and wind energy companies and researchers worldwide to innovate silicon-based solutions that increase the efficiency, reliability, performance and cost-competitiveness of renewable energy,"  said Robert D. Hansen, Dow Corning president and CEO. "Dan's business acumen and diverse experience managing game-changing innovation will enable Dow Corning to continue to develop practical, cost-effective clean energy materials for our customers."

Futter is taking over from Eric Peeters, who has provided world-class leadership of Dow Corning's Solar Solutions business since 2008, helping establish the company's position as a global supplier and innovation partner in the solar industry. Peeters has been named to lead Dow Corning's Electronics Business, building on his experience in the photovoltaic (PV) industry.

"I feel privileged to take over this role at Dow Corning, where strong, decisive leadership is key to success in the fast-evolving clean energy industries," said Futter. "I'm eager to apply my passion for innovation and for resolving world challenges such as climate change, to continue to drive our thought leadership and solution development for the renewable energy markets."

Futter joined Dow Corning Corporation in 1994, and most recently served as business vice president of Dow Corning's Business and Technology Incubator (B&TI). The B&TI is chartered with discovering and building significant new business opportunities for the Corporation.

In his more than 18-year career at Dow Corning, Futter has served in various technical, commercial, business development and executive positions in the United States and Europe.

He is a board member for the Specialty Chemicals Business at Dow Corning and of the Mid Michigan Innovation Center. Futter earned a B.Sc. Hons in Biochemistry with Biotechnology from the University of Birmingham, UK.
