Italy's largest roof-mounted photovoltaic plant

News

Watson, Farley & Williams has assisted Jiangsu Zongyi Co. Ltd with the acquisition, construction and connection of Italy's largest integrated photovoltaic plant. The power plant, which is located in the region of Marche, has a power output of 13.5 MW and covers approximately 200,000 m2 on the roof of the buildings of an industrial steel producer.

The plant will benefit from special incentive tariffs due to its integrated nature and will meet the energy needs of around 4,500 households in the surrounding area, allowing a substantial reduction in the energy impact of the industrial buildings on which the plant has been installed.

The €55m project was connected to the national grid before August 27, complying with the deadline to still obtain the State feed-in-tariffs provided by the Fourth Energy Account (the Fifth Energy Account establishes reduced tariffs).

With this project, Jiangsu Zongyi Co. Ltd has added to a portfolio of connected photovoltaic plants in Italy with a total power output of 22 MW. The company has already begun work on further projects to develop an additional 7 MW to expand its portfolio to over 50 MW.

Jiangsu Zongyi Co. Ltd commissioned AVA Energy LTD for the connection of the plant under a service agreement.

Watson, Farley & Williams' team was led by the partner Elvezio Santarelli who coordinated the lawyers Federico Fabiano, Fabio Solimene and Andrea Ceschina.
