3W Power Ukraine signs Martifer contract

News

3W Power Ukraine, subsidiary of AEG Power Solutions signed its first contract with the solar division of the Portuguese multinational group Martifer. This deal covers photovoltaic utility scale equipment for two solar farms which will generate 5.25 MW.

"Our footprint is adapted: our local presence and our ability to fulfill local requirements makes a difference"

The sites are both located in the Vinnytsia region of Ukraine, a country strongly supporting solar power developments. Martifer Solar is the solar sub-holding of Martifer Group. Its activity is focused on project development, EPC, O&M and distribution of PV components and systems. The company has already participated in the implementation of more than 250 MW of photovoltaic solar energy worldwide. These are also the first solar plants in Ukraine for Martifer Solar.

AEG Power Solutions will provide its TKS-C containerized outdoor stations, including latest generation central inverters, transformers and medium voltage switchgear. The supply also comprises metering and monitoring components and communications infrastructure. In close cooperation with the grid operator, this single source solution ensures smooth PV power plant operation.

AEG Power Solutions won the project thanks to the acknowledged quality and efficiency of its products and to its operation in Ukraine. Photovoltaic projects in Ukraine today require 15% of local content. "Our footprint is adapted: our local presence and our ability to fulfill local requirements makes a difference", explains Philippe Capron Managing Director of 3W Power in Ukraine. "We started to manufacture our first container solutions in Ukraine one month ago, and this contract proves that it was the right move". Martifer Solar also requested local service capacity which the group can provide with a team already experienced in large solar equipment installations and maintenance.

AEG Power Solutions will deliver and commission the equipment on site which should be connected to the grid and operational by the end of the year.

"This is another important step in the international expansion of Martifer Solar. We are very pleased with our entry into Ukraine, where our aim is to take a leading position in this high potential market, whilst providing economic and environmental benefits to the local population", said Henrique Rodrigues, CEO of Martifer Solar.

AEG Power Solutions global footprint constitutes a major strength to continue growing on the worldwide solar market when the Western European part is maturing. "Our Ukrainian presence forms a solid base from which we are expecting to leverage in order to continue growing on Eastern European markets", comments Bob Roos, VP Solar Strategic Business Unit, AEG Power Solutions.
