CSUN positions itself in Turkey
CSUN is officially opening its Turkey factory. The celebration will be attended by high ranking government officials and will even be honoured by the presence of the Turkish Minister of Energy - Mr Taner Yildiz.
In preparation of the growing Turkish and Middle East solar market and to be closer to its European customers, CSUN invested in 2012 in a cell and module production facility in Istanbul Turkey - CSUN Eurasia. The company is operated together with its local joint venture partner Seul Energy. Operational since January 2013, it produces mainly polycrystalline cells and modules based on CSUN's well developed technology and equipment.
Stephen Cai, the CEO of CSUN explains: "CSUN Eurasia is CSUNs next step in its globalization approach, bringing the company closer to customers in core and developing markets. As a reliable partner, we are focused on providing high quality, fair cost products to our customers across the globe. The new factory also underlines our strategy that will turn CSUN into a global tier 1 player."
CSUN Eurasia currently has a module production capacity of 175 MW, which is being ramped up to 300 MW by the end of June. Additionally, it provides a cell manufacturing capacity of 100 MW.
CSUN is currently evaluating locally produced materials such as glass, frames, backsheets etc. and expects to be compliant with Turkish local content regulations by the fourth quarter of 2013, that will allow customers to receive higher feed-in tariffs.
