Conergy continues Greek success

News

Conergy is following on directly from its achievements of the last few months and delivering the components for one further power plant totalling 500 kilowatt on the Hellenic Peninsula. Conergy's long-term partner Solar Element is acting as general contractor for the project and recently connected the power plant to the grid. The solar park is located in Amideo in the region of Florina in northern Greece.

On an area of 15,000 square metres, the around 2,000 "P-Series" Conergy modules of the power plant in Amideo will be generating approximately 740,000 kilowatt hours of clean solar electricity per year in the future. 31 Conergy IPG inverters will feed the power into the grid, from which it will supply over 210 households in the area with sustainable energy from the Hellenic sun. At the same time, the solar park will prevent over 370 tonnes of CO2 being emitted each year "“ roughly corresponding to the emissions of 770 large trucks, which transport the well-known vegetable speciality "piperies florinis" (Florina peppers) from the province in northern Greece across nearly 550 kilometres to the capital Athens.

"Despite the continuing tense economic situation, which is also having an impact on the solar industry in the country, Conergy is recording very good results here. This new solar plant is already number six since the start of the year," says Dr Stefanos Melissopoulos, Managing Director of Conergy Greece. "Thanks to our many years of experience and our extensive network of reliable partners such as Solar Element, we are always close to our customers. We can thus offer them tailor-made solutions of the highest quality, which represent a safe investment that they can rely on. This will also continue to pay off in Greece."

Mr Giorgos Gidarakos, Managing Director of Solar Element, adds: "Conergy has been at our side as a competent and strong partner for several years. We have had excellent experiences with Conergy's components and services and are not only relying on the proven Conergy quality for this project, but will also do so in the future. Because that way we can be sure that our customers' solar plants will operate reliably and provide high yields in the long term. At the same time, we are making a contribution to strengthening the industry and our domestic economy."
