Conergy completes solar facade
Conergy and its partner Sommerfeld Solartechnik have completed a 17 kilowatt solar power plant on the façade of AZUR SPACE Solar Power's branch office in Heilbronn, Germany. The approximately 70 Conergy PowerPlus modules cover an area of more than 130 square meters. They are fitted vertically on the frontage of the office building neighboring river Neckar. The Conergy power plant will produce 12,062 kilowatt hours of clean energy per year. The leading manufacturer of solar cells for space PV and terrestrial CPV applications will self-consume all of the energy produced on site and thereby save around 7,235 kg CO2 emissions per year.
"An increasing number of businesses start to pit on their own energy supply. Thereby they ensure stable and predictable operating expenses in the long term as well as security of supply. Photovoltaic is an optimum solution for businesses featuring high energy needs during the day", said Stefan Balbierz, Managing Director of Conergy in Germany. "We support our partners and end consumers with customized and individual solutions "“ such as the power plant on the façade of AZUR SPACE. The company self-consumes all of the energy on site and thereby reduces its electricity bill."
The manufacture of the expert for space PV applications in Baden-Wuerttemberg in the south west of Germany is now twice as "green", producing clean tech devices for space with eco-power from earth. "Our rooftop surface was not eligible for a photovoltaic installation. Nevertheless, Conergy and partner Sommerfeld Solartechnik found a perfect solution we are quite proud of", said Stephan Mayer, Director Strategic Projects at AZUR SPACE Solar Power. "The imposing integration in the façade is embellishing our frontage and, most importantly, it represents at first sight our sustainable company values while reducing operating costs at the same time."
