Etho Solar provides UNI-FAB solar project in Canada
Abe Fehr sought to diversify UNI-FAB's property and participate in the Green Energy Act of Ontario. Solar was an easily identified opportunity for UNI-FAB's 81,000 square foot manufacturing plant located in southern Ontario.
EthoSolar Inc. was selected as UNI-FAB's partner in providing a complete turn-key solution for this 250 kW rooftop solar project based on our reputation within the solar industry and experience with serving the local area, having completed over 500 grid-tied solar projects throughout Ontario.
"The EthoSolar team worked closely with the management of UNI-FAB throughout the entire process including the FIT (Feed-In-Tariff) application with the Ontario Power Authority, and the design and construction of the actual installation" shares Sean Hammond, Vice President of Operations for EthoSolar. "Mr. Fehr's enthusiasm and commitment to seeing this project realized was demonstrated through his involvement from start to finish. Given UNI-FAB's particular specialty in sheet metal fabrication, the company conducted their own structural improvements to the roof and produced brackets for the electrical component requirements directly in their plant."
The solar installation included 1,430 Hanwha Poly Can Am 250 watt panels totaling 357,500 watts DC. The design utilizes Fronius IG Plus inverters and a Wurth Dual Rail racking system that required no roof penetrations. The project was connected in October 2013 with commissioning completed in November 2013.
Having recently completed another round of applications for the latest version of the FIT program, EthoSolar is now gearing up for another busy season of serving property owners seeking to diversify their income and energy generation opportunities through solar within both the FIT 4.0 and net metering programs. Business owners, farmers and public institutions are encouraged to learn more about participating in clean energy generation through rooftop solar. Part of EthoSolar's mandate is to educate our communities as industry leaders.
