China thin film alliance appoints lead positions
In 2013 an industry alliance for thin-film solar (China Thin-Film PV Industry Alliance & Thin-Film PV Committee of CNECC) was established in Beijing, China. Mr. JuWan Ren, General Manager of SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Shanghai (SINGULUS) was appointed to represent SINGULUS as Managing Director in the Management Committee of this association.
In addition, Mr. Guobao Zhang, director of the State Energy Resources Commission, was appointed Honorary Chairman of the alliance and Mr. Hejun Li, president of the China New Energy Chamber of Commerce (CNECC) was elected as league president.
The alliance was proposed by Hanergy Holding Group Limited, a leader in thin-film PV in China, and in the meantime has attracted more than 100 members. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES was also one of the founding members. The alliance will focus on the further development of the solar energy industry in China.
Mr. Guobao Zhang commented, "Smog and the general pollution of air have received widespread attention in recent years. As an important solution to the environmental problems, we must tap new resources of energy. Solar energy together with other new sources of energy will provide additional opportunities."
Thin-film solar technology is an advanced, modern technology. The advantage is its enhanced flexibility and increased translucency. Thin-film solar modules weigh less than comparable crystalline solar modules and many experts see a high growth potential for this technology.
Mr. Hejun Li, President of the Alliance, added that the new association meets the requirements of the industry and expects additional, key companies to join as members in orders to strengthen China's role as an important country for thin-film solar technology.
