Solar thermal absorber coil companies combine

News

ALANOD GmbH & Co. KG has acquired  the company BlueTec GmbH & Co. KG. Both companies, ALANOD and BlueTec produce and supply selective absorber coils for the solar thermal industry, as well as highly reflective aluminium material for the lighting industry.

Despite ambitious hopes in the solar thermal market for continual growth, results have proven disappointing, mainly due to policy changes in the German energy market. Since 2008 the quantity of newly installed collector area has contracted year on year. The lighting industry is undergoing fundamental changes as well. Here, LED as a light source for the future, is gaining rapid acceptance and is thus replacing traditional lighting solutions using reflector technologies.

Both of these factors have led to BlueTec being unable to follow through with their growth strategy. BlueTec was founded in 2005 and 4 years ago tripled its production capacity with a second vacuum deposition line installed in a 4,200 sqm production plant and office space combined. ALANOD, a specialist in surface treatment and aluminium finishing, has become established in other diverse markets, with new decorative and solar products as well as gaining a foothold in the automotive and computer industries. This was made possible with the development of innovative surfaces through the combination of diverse processing techniques. Apart from anodising and physical vapour deposition systems, a new lacquering line has been installed enabling the development of new Sol"Gel lacquer systems.

Over the last 10 years, the BlueTec team have helped in the world wide solar thermal market development and have provided the best possible customer support and service. ALANOD will continue seamlessly with this tradition.
