Krempel Group receive Japanese certification for coloured backsheets
The KREMPEL-Group has recently obtained JET certification for their black PV backsheet laminate from the AKASO product family with fluoropolymer film. The solar materials manufacturer has successfully completed the TÜV certification for differently coloured backsheets with fluoropolymer film.
"Until now, very few manufacturers have been able to offer a black JET-standard PV backsheet. The latest JET certification is therefore an important building-block in the customer-oriented alignment of our AKASOL product range, which now not only includes a white variant, but also a black variant fulfilling all JET requirements", says Klaus Bernhardt, Head of the KREMPEL Solar Materials Division., "This enables us to provide support to all solar module manufacturers that want their products to participate in the very promising Japanese solar market. That's because Japan also uses predominantly white and black PV modules and, at the same time, JET certification is a prerequisite for market access."
The JET certification is carried out by the Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories (JET). "This process carefully examines all those properties of a PV backsheet laminate that are actually relevant to an assessment of its quality. Furthermore they are different from the frequently used adhesion of the backsheet laminate to the encapsulating polymer after umpteen thousand hours in the climatic chamber", explains Karlheinz Brust, Technical Director of the Solar Materials Division at KREMPEL. "The JET certification process tests resistance to UV radiation and thermal aging as well as partial discharge behaviour and behaviour in the event of fire."
Another important component of the certification process is the testing of the production plants and quality controls "“ a procedure that KREMPEL is already familiar with from the German equivalent, TÜV Rheinland. The KREMPEL Solar Materials Division has successfully completed the TUVdotCOM certification for the fourth successive time this year "“ for different AKASOL backsheets with fluoropolymer film in black, white and red.
