REFUenergy Announces off grid hybrid solution

News

REFUenergy, a business division of REFU Elektronik has expanded its portfolio with the REFUtower. An off grid hybrid product.

The modular system concept from REFUenergy also plays a prominent role in the new REFUtower. Hence the possibility to configure, practically at will, charge regulators in 2 kW steps for PV, mains and diesel generators on the input side. The output side also features a flexible design. The system can either deliver 48V DC directly from the battery voltage, ideal for supplying, for example, telecommunications equipment, or with the addition of 2, 3 or 4 kVA inverter modules can generate an off-grid network for AC 230V or 3AC 400V. In addition to this, an intelligent bypass switch enables the direct passage of the mains supply or the generator voltage to the end user.

Furthermore, the modular system concept has the advantage of having backups. If, contrary to expectations, a component fails, it will quickly be substituted by its "˜colleagues'.

Typical applications besides 48V DC power supplies include all off-grid supplies in combination with PV modules, diesel generators and/or unstable mains supplies. The REFUtower is also ideally suited to bridging off-grid periods when being used during temporary mains failure.

The new REFUtower comes with lead acid batteries from October and with LiFePO4 batteries from November 2014. In both cases the battery voltage is 48V.
