Dedication of Germany's First Energy-Plus Train Station
At the entrance to the holiday region Blue Land in Bavaria, the Blue Train Station in Uffing welcomes citizens, tourists and those passing through from all over the world. The 137-year-old train station has been renovated with ecologically friendly material and equipped with modern control systems. The Blue Train Station in Uffing brings tradition together with modern trends and progress to become a vivid and observable symbol for sustainability.
Plant-for-the-Planet
The train station is also the headquarters of the children and youth foundation Plant-for-the-Planet.The foundation has committed itself to achieving the goal of planting a trillion trees by 2020. They have already planted 14.2 billion trees since 2007. The next big challenge is to help to ensure that all energy is produced from 100 percent renewable sources and without nuclear power plants by 2050. The key players here are children around the world who donate trees, participate in workshops and are active as ambassadors for climate justice. A presentation about the environmental crisis at school from the fourth grader Felix Finkbeinersparks started this global movement.
