46 MW solar farm gets planning approval in Northern Ireland

News

Hadstone Energy Limited, who develop, build, operate and invest in UK solar parks, have announced Northern Ireland's biggest successful solar farm planning application to date.

Once completed the 46 MW 79 hectare solar farm in Country Antrim will be able to supply energy to 9,500 homes

Philip Deeks said:

"We face a real challenge to connect the solar farm within the next 12 months, but we are hopeful that SONI and NIE will do everything they can to make this work.  At the moment we are just very pleased to have been granted planning permission for such a great solar farm site.

"We are indebted to the hard work of the authorities, the landowners, Ross Planning and of course to Sarah Ewing, who has been truly excellent, just as she has been on all of our projects in Northern Ireland."

TLT's Sarah Ewing, real estate associate, advised Hadstone Energy Limited, who develop, build, operate and invest in UK solar parks, on Northern Ireland's biggest successful solar farm planning application to date.

To date TLT has been involved in getting over 2 GW of solar projects either in the pipeline, contracted or built across all three UK jurisdictions.

TLT's Maria Connolly, head of energy and renewables, said:

"This is both a significant development for Hadstone Energy Limited and the wider renewable energy sector in Northern Ireland; showing that renewable energy is still seen as a viable commercial option despite shifting policy and regulations changes."
