ROFIN expands fibre laser production capacities

Fibre lasers have established themselves as efficient and reliable tools within industrial manufacturing and are still recording high growth rates. This trend can also clearly be noted at the laser manufacturer ROFIN. Due to the increasing success in the market, ROFIN has expanded its fibre laser production by an additional assembly line at the company's factory in Hamburg.

In 2009, ROFIN introduced its high-power fibre lasers into the market and has delivered more than 1,000 lasers with output powers ranging from 500 to 8,000 watts. In the beginning of 2013, the factory adopted the Lean-Production principle, which improved productivity and allowed the company to respond faster to market demands. Lasers could henceforth be realized with or without any additional options "“ at the same time and in random order. This customized assembly has been the basis for future growth.

With the creation of additional production capacities, ROFIN now reacts to the increasing demands in the segment of low-power fibre lasers. "In the new assembly line, the compact fibre lasers with one 2 kW fibre laser module are exclusively built", states Dr. Joachim Käselau, Operations Manager in Hamburg. The number of assembly workplaces has been increased approximately 30 percent, improving production capacity and reducing lead times. The laser production is more flexible now and therefore well prepared for the upcoming introduction of the next ROFIN fibre laser generation with even more powerful laser modules.
