France launches 3 GW solar tender
The French energy ministry has announced plans to tender 3 GW of PV power in an effort to increase solar capacity to 20.2 GW by 2023.
A series of six tenders of 500MW each will take place at six month intervals between 2017 and 2020.
Tenders will be available for ground-mounted PV systems with capacities between 500 kW and 17 MW each. Apparently, 65 MW of the 500 MW tender will be available for developers who want to install PV systems with a size of 500 kW to 10 MW on carports while the majority of the tender will go to solar farms larger than 5 MW (300 MW overall) and between 500 kW and 5 MW (135 MW).
The first application round will end on February 1, 2017 and the last application period will end in June 2019.
