Huawei FusionSolar Conference looks at the digitalization of PV
Huawei Solar, the world's number one inverter manufacturer by shipments, held its landmark "˜FusionSolar' Conference in Lyon this month, bringing together leading European plant owners, investors, developers, EPC, industry experts, analysts, and financial institutions. At the conference, which was held at the Palais de la Bourse de Lyon, Huawei discussed the trends shaping the PV industry and shared ideas on the digitalization and intelligence of PV plants as well as presenting the latest innovations of its FusionSolar Smart PV Solution.
The application of big data and smart solutions in the PV industry was a key discussion topic for the conference. Chief Scientist at Huawei Dr. Liu Yunfeng said, "As an important technology behind the digitalization of PV plants, Huawei's innovative smart I-V Curve diagnosis scans all PV strings simultaneously and precisely. Through such on-line scanning, it could accurately identify the types and locations of PV strings faults and suggest solutions with the help of the FusionSolar Smart PV Management System, Smart PV Inverter and high-precision sensor."
In June 2016, Huawei Solar started its cooperation with KiloWattsol SAS, one of the European market leaders for yield assessment of PV projects. CEO Xavier Daval attended the conference in Lyon and said, "We see great potential in the internet of energy "“ it's the future. Digitalization and intelligence of Smart PV plants will prevail and Huawei is a leading company in this area. It has accumulated deep knowledge in this space and become a powerful force driving the PV industry towards intelligence and digitalization."
Huawei has established strong links with many French power and energy companies since its entry to the market. Song Kai, CEO of the Huawei French Office, said "Huawei announced the five-year plan for investment in France at the meeting with French Prime Minister Manuel Valls." According to the plan, Huawei will provide 600 job positions and invest 1.5 billion Euros in France. The plan will facilitate the transformation of French industries towards digitalization, informatization and intelligence. In addition, Huawei will develop new partnerships with French enterprises which could facilitate the creation of additional job opportunities.
One of Huawei's long-term customers and partners, Amarenco, an independent power producer in Ireland and France, has invested more than 300 million Euros in France in the past two years. Alain Desvigne, Chief Operating Officer said, "Amarenco has deployed over 2000 Huawei string inverters in France. Huawei is a global leading inverter manufacturer and Amarenco will further strengthen the cooperation with Huawei at all regional markets."
The conference also attracted leading analysts such as IHS' Sam Wilkinson. The Senior Analyst told attendees, "It is projected that by 2020, the installation capacity of utility PV plants will exceed 300GW in the world. The string inverter will be the mainstream choice for EPC, developers and owners of utility PV plants. High yield and low O&M cost can generate higher benefits to PV plants and this must be a focus for owners and investors."
