Schneider donates portable solar lanterns to aid Harvey recovery
Schneider Electric has announced it has delivered 1,000 units of the company's Mobiya TS170 S LED lighting systems to the American Red Cross to support disaster recovery efforts in Beaumont, Texas and surrounding areas, as communities continue to grapple with the lack of electricity from the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Harvey. As part of the Mobiya brand of portable lighting solutions, these water-resistant, multi-function solar lanterns provide up to 48 hours of lighting with one day of solar charge, while also enabling users to charge mobile devices.

As we work with the community in Beaumont and surrounding areas one thing is clear: people need access to energy to aid in their recovery," said Annette Clayton, CEO and President, North American Operations, Schneider Electric. "While the storm's path of destruction has ended, residents and businesses are still facing ongoing power outages and basic electrical hazards. These lighting systems, accompanied by a level of awareness of electrical dangers and basic precautions, can ensure that people in affected areas can stay safe as recovery efforts continue."
The Mobiya portable LED lighting systems with accompanying solar panels will enable individuals in Beaumont who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey to conveniently light up surroundings and charge mobile devices no matter the location. With the universal charging cable, Mobiya lamps can also be charged by any USB port.
