News

With 707 MW installed in 2016, Baker Electric is nationally ranked #1 on the 2017 Top 500 list of Top Solar Electrical Subcontractors and Baker Electric Solar #4 on the Top Rooftop Solar Contractors list.

Coming off the biggest year ever for U.S. solar installations, Southern California utility-scale / commercial solar contractor, Baker Electric and residential solar and energy storage provider Baker Electric Solar are among the companies recently named top U.S. solar contractors by Solar Power World magazine.

The Top 500 Solar Contractors list is created by Solar Power World to recognize the work of solar contractors across the country. Produced annually, the list celebrates the highest achievements of U.S. solar developers, subcontractors and installers within the utility, commercial and residential markets. Based on 707.064 megawatts of solar business in 2016, Baker Electric Inc. achieved a rank of #1 on the Electrical Subcontractors list. This is the second year in a row Baker has been awarded the top ranking.

With 16.107 megawatts, Baker Electric Solar ranked #4 on the Rooftop Solar Contractors list providing confirmation of their strong market position in Southern California. Both companies also ranked high on the Top 50 Solar Contractors California list with Baker Electric, Inc. #5 and Baker Electric Solar #26.

"The 2017 Top Solar Contractors list features 500 of the top producing solar contractors in the United States," said Kelly Pickerel, managing editor of Solar Power World. "From solar hotbeds on the coasts to the up-and-coming Midwest solar market, every installer adding even the smallest solar array to the grid, is making a positive impact on our communities. We're proud to recognize these companies like Baker and their efforts to bring solar power to U.S. homes and businesses." "It's a distinct honor to be recognized as part of the Top 500 five consecutive years," said Ted Baker, CEO and President of Baker Electric, Inc.

"Our #1 solar electrical subcontractor rank is a tribute to our exceptional employees and nearly 80 years of electrical contracting experience. We've achieved our longevity by building strategic relationships with public entities, private developers, general contractors, subcontractors and vendors. Our objective is to provide leading-edge energy solutions that meet and exceed the needs of our clients on every project."

GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) predict the cumulative U.S. solar market to nearly triple in size over the next five years. By 2022, more than 18 GW of solar photovoltaic capacity will be installed annually. Both Baker Electric Inc. and Baker Electric Solar are poised to be major players in adding solar energy to Southern California's utility-scale installations, businesses, non-profits, military bases and homes.
