German-Italian Partnership In Brandenburg
2.4 MW solar rooftop project
The roof of Porcelaingres GmbH in Brandenburg Vetschau has a size 50,000 m2. The roof has currently been leased for twenty years: On the rooftop area COLEXON Energy AG is realizing a photovoltaic rooftop power plant with a total output of 2.4 MWp. Porcelaingres GmbH, a subsidiary of the Italian GranitiFiandre Group, sets a high value on a sustainable production of modern tiles. Consequently the company decided to exploit its rooftop in an ecological and sustainable way. On the tile factory's 750 meter production hall COLEXON Energy AG mounts a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 2.4 MWp. The solar power plant shall be connected to the grid in December.
"We focus on large scale rooftop areas for our solar power plants instead of building solar parks on free fields which could be utilized for other purposes", explains Thorsten Preugschas, CEO of COLEXON. "This approach is not only logical from an ecological perspective but is also more profitable for our investors due to the adjustment in the feed-in tariff", continues Preugschas. The company used modules from the thin film specialist First Solar and inverters from SMA.
"Porcelaingres aligns its production processes to ecological aspects. For example, in our production process we utilize the fragments of tiles, use sewage water as well as an extensive rainwater collecting tank", says Graziano Verdi, CEO of the GranitiFiandre Group. "In this context, it perfectly matches to lease our rooftop areas for generating solar energy", continues Verdi.
