REC Announces Multi Solar Module With Backside Passivation Technology

Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), has launched the REC Peak Energy Plus Series module, the first commercially available multicrystalline product based on cells with backside passivation technology.

"REC is excited to launch the REC Peak Energy Plus module which shows our commitment to developing innovative products that perform consistently in all conditions to help our customers save time and money"

The new REC Peak Energy Plus Series delivers an additional 5 watts compared to the earlier generation product. The module has a nominal power output in watt classes ranging from 240 Wp to 255 Wp with higher watt classes possible in the future. Innovative backside passivation technology improves performance by enhancing the solar cell's response to red light.

In addition to the added watt gain in midday conditions, the new module will perform particularly well in low light conditions and at high temperatures, producing additional energy during early and late hours of the day, in hazy conditions and in warmer climates. The REC Peak Energy Plus Series provides the same long-lasting quality and reliable power output as other REC products. REC modules were the top performer in the 2011 Photon Field Performance Test, producing 6% more power than the test average. With the new backside passivation cell technology added, the energy yield of REC Peak Energy Plus modules will increase even further. The module is also easy to install with a robust and durable design.

"REC is excited to launch the REC Peak Energy Plus module which shows our commitment to developing innovative products that perform consistently in all conditions to help our customers save time and money," affirmed Luc Graré, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Cells and Modules, REC. "We have built on the high performance of our earlier generation modules to develop a product that provides more energy per watt peak in higher temperature and in low light conditions."
