China state electricity offers grid connection to smaller projects
With concerns that the global solar market is becoming more difficult for Chinese PV companies due to trade disputes the Chinese have been looking at different ways to support the local industry. The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), the country's largest state-owned utility company, has announced that small-scale distributed solar power generators will be able to connect to its power lines. Solar power generators below 6MW of capacity will be allowed to access the grid. The company will provide technological assistance and waive any charges normally associated with such a connection.
The goal is to develop incentives that encourage local demand and provide an outlet for the over supply of PV equipment that remains creating the current market slowdown.
"˜Connecting distributed solar power to the national grid is a "crucial step" in removing obstacles that have contained the development of China's solar industry,' said Shi Lishan, deputy director of the new and renewable energy department of the National Energy Administration (NEA).
