Danfoss opens largest solar park in Denmark

The 2.1 MW PV plant at Danfoss Headquarters, which is the largest PV plant in Nordic region was inaugurated on 3.Feb 2014 at a ceremony with specially invited guests. Amongst these were the Regional Chairman Carl Holst and Mayor Erik Lauritzen. The Danfoss Executive Committee played host to the event, which was marked by speeches and a tour of the premises.
The Danfoss Solar Park as the plant is called was connected to grid in late December 2013. The plant has produced 34,768 kWh to date, despite January being the poorest solar month in the past 45 years in Denmark.
The Danfoss Solar Park covers 30,000m2 of land and is placed next to the Danfoss Headquarters. The 9,216 solar panels are connected to 128 Danfoss FLX Pro 15 kW inverters. It will generate the equivalent of 400 households' annual energy consumption, or enough to power the 11 stories main administrative building at the Danfoss Headquarters. The plant, which has taken two months to complete, is part of Danfoss' target to reduce its CO2 emissions by 25% and to increase the use of renewable energy by 25% by 2025.
At the inauguration the CEO of the Danfoss Group Niels Bjørn Christiansen, held a speech, pointing out how Danfoss contributes to a considerably better energy utilisation for our customers. At the same time we have a strong focus on our own consumption.
"We continuously improve our buildings and technical installations. At the moment we are carrying out projects at our 15 largest factories worldwide. Meanwhile we also focus on generating energy from sustainable sources, as this plant is a testament to. Currently a 1MW plant is also under way on our new premises in India."
Regional Chairman Carl Holst said he had looked forward to the inauguration of the largest plant in the Nordic region. " We need this kind of investment both to create growth and employment but also to protect the environment".
