Multi-Contact's PV connector is the first to receive the JET component certification

News

The MC4-EVO 2 is the latest addition to the MC4 PV plug connector range, which has proven itself a million times over, and has just been launched by Multi-Contact on the global market. The new plug connector from the market leader for PV connectors has been approved for 1500 V DC (IEC, TÜV) and 1000 V DC (UL).

The plug connector is extremely efficient, meaning that currents of up to 45 A can be transmitted with a cable cross section of 4 mm²/12 AWG, 53 A can be transmitted with a cable cross section of 6 mm²/10 AWG, and 69 A can be transmitted with a cable cross section of 10 mm²/8 AWG. The sustainable and durable concept ensures high yields for operators thanks to low power loss.

MC4-EVO 2 is compatible with the entire MC4 range and meets the requirements for NEC 2011. The MC4-EVO 2 and MC4-EVO 3 series have been entered into the JET component database for the first time. This is an important development for the international company with Swiss roots, as it allows MC plug connector technology to be used in applications in Japan.

Sascha Schmidt, Product Manager Photovoltaics, stated, "As with all of the products in the MC4 range, this new plug connector owes its excellent electrical values to the MULTILAM contact technology. It guarantees excellent contact even when subject to contact resistance of up to 0.35 mΩ."

The MC4-EVO 2 meets the requirements for the IP65 and IP68 degrees of protection and is approved for use within a temperature range of "“40°C to +85°C (IEC and UL). The impact-resistant polyamide housing can withstand UV radiation, salt spray, and ammonia vapors. As with all PV connectors, Swiss-quality preassembled cable sets are available; however, the proven and widely used MC4 crimping pliers also allow you to assemble the plug connectors professionally on-site.
