On-site consumption of solar power increases profitability of PV installations
The practice of consuming solar power on site as opposed to feeding it into the grid prevents consumers from having to buy expensive mains electricity and is bringing ever greater rewards.
With end customers paying 29 euro cents/kWh for electricity and solar power costing around 12 euro cents/kWh to generate, on-site consumption is particularly attractive for private households, and saves owners up to 60% in comparison to mains electricity. On-site consumption is also an ideal option for commercial and industrial enterprises, which face an average commodity price (including electricity tax) of over 15 euro cents/kWh in comparison to on-site power production costs of 10 euro cents/kWh or less, depending on the location of their photovoltaic installation. On-site consumption, which can be increased thanks to energy management systems and battery storage devices, not only allows consumers to cut ties with utilities, but also to improve returns from their own photovoltaic installations.
Manufacturers and systems integrators are showcasing the entire spectrum of innovative solutions for the on-site consumption of solar power at Intersolar Europe in Munich from June 10"“12, 2015. In addition, presentations held at the Innovation Exchange (B3, booth 450) on all three days of the exhibition are unveiling the latest industry developments.
