Schneider Electric to provide solution for first large PV power plant in Kazakhstan and CIS

Schneider Electric Solar Business, has announced that they were chosen as the solutions provider for a 50 MW project in Kazakhstan, the first large PV power plant project in the country and in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States).

The power plant was constructed in 8 months under hardest environmental conditions, starting in August 2014 and was ready for grid connection on April 30, 2015

For the project, Schneider Electric delivered and commissioned 32 units of the PV Box RT designed to withstand the local conditions, which comes with Schneider Electric's Conext Core XC inverters, transformer and HV-switchgear. The PV Box is fully pre-manufactured, arriving on site equipped, cabled, and tested, ready for connection. As well, Schneider Electric made the 220kV grid connection and built a turn-key 63MVA sub-station. Project management and engineering was fulfilled by Schneider Electric Germany in close co-operation with the Schneider Electric Kazakhstan service team, who installed and commissioned medium and low voltage products, including the PV Box, and also assisted in setting up the PACIS 220 monitoring system at the 220kV station.

"We are proud to have provided high-tech Schneider Electric solutions and products for the first large PV power plant built in Kazakhstan," said Irina Dmitrenko, General Director, Schneider Electric Kazakhstan. "For this project, Schneider Electric has provided the full electrical conversion chain, from grid to DC connection, with fully trained and experienced staff. As a company with more than 17 years of experience in the solar industry, financial strength, and worldwide support, Schneider Electric is a bankable partner for any PV installation."
