Compatibility of BYD Battery-Box Premium and Fronius Symo GEN24

News

BYD Co. Ltd., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of rechargeable batteries, is happy to announce the highly anticipated compatibility of the modular energy storage system BYD Battery-Box Premium with the Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus inverters by Fronius International GmbH. Due to the popularity of the two solutions this system combination is one of the most requested and eagerly expected bundles for renewable energy storage in the market.

Following the compatibility with the Fronius Symo Hybrid inverters, BYD and Fronius have now successfully confirmed the compatibility with the award-winning Symo GEN24 Plus. The system combination provides installers and customers with benefits such as a very easy installation and commissioning, a sustainable service concept, and a very high system efficiency. The modular design of the Battery-Box system and its versatility also makes it THE go-to system for application options from residential to light commercial, for one-phase and three-phase systems, on- and off-grid projects for energy back-up and emergency power supply.

“BYD’s goal is designing and providing solutions that contribute to our vision of a Zero Emissions Energy Ecosystem. This does not only require technologically advanced solutions but also the acceptance of the market through our partners and customers”, said Julia Chen, Global Director BYD Battery-Box. “We are therefore delighted about high market penetration and continuous positive feedback from our customers. This would not be possible without great cooperation and system combination with partners such as Fronius.”

Versatile application options including high-powered emergency-backup

The first installations with the system combination have already been implemented successfully.
A typical example is the use as emergency back-up energy supply connected to a pv system. A residential home in Brisbane, Australia utilizes the high-voltage BYD Battery-Box Premium 10.2 HVS battery in combination with a Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus 10 kW inverter and a Symo15 kW inverter. The grid-connected three-phase back-up energy storage system does not only add renewable energy to the family’s energy-mix and maximises the grid connected capacity – it also provides a solution to load-balancing challenges and makes sure there is always a sufficient energy supply for the entire family’s needs.

“The exceptional versatility in addition to the high efficiency and easy installation has made the Battery-Box the system of choice for many of our customers and we value the partnership with BYD,” said Martin Hackl, Global Director of Solar Energy at Fronius International GmbH.

System compatibility information

The Symo GEN24 Plus inverter is compatible with the Battery-Box Premium models HVS 5.1, 7.7 and 10.2 as well as with the Battery-Box Premium HVM 11.0 / 13.8 / 16.6 / 19.3 and 22.1.

Based on the modular design of the battery system this means with the Battery-Box Premium HVM system customers can use up to 8 HVM battery modules with 2.76 kWh each that are connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of up to 22.1 kWh. A connection of up to three identical Battery-Box Premium HVM allows a maximum capacity of 66.2 kWh.

For the Battery-Box Premium HVS this allows to use 2 to 5 HVS battery modules that are connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 5.1 to 12.8 kWh. A connection of up to three identical Battery-Box Premium HVS allows a maximum capacity of 38.4 kWh.

The system is based on BYD's lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) technology for maximum safety, life cycles and power while it meets the toughest industry standards, such as the VDE-AR-E 2510-50 safety standard. All models are capable of high-powered emergency-backup and feature both on- and off-grid functionality.
