JUWI sells two solar parks in Veneto, Italy

News

JUWI Energie Rinnovabili S.r.l., the Italian subsidiary of international project developer JUWI Group and A2A Group signed the agreements for two plants fully authorized for a combined capacity of 17.5 megawatt (MW) solar PV parks in the Veneto region. Both parks have been developed by JUWI. Start of construction will be in 2024. The solar parks will generate more than 25 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of climate-friendly electricity per year, covering the annual needs of about 9,000 households and, additionally, reduce natural gas consumption by about five million cubic meters per year and so avoiding the emission of about 10,500 tons of the greenhouse gas CO2.

“We are very pleased to have sold this portion of our green field development to A2A”, says Daniele Moriconi, Managing Director of JUWI Energie Rinnovabili. “The projects will give the renewable energy market in the country a further boost.”

Italy is still facing a backlog of more than 15 GW of solar projects, some of which have been frozen for years. The wind and solar market, however, is finally seeing a general trend of projects’ approval from the authorities, both locally and at the national level – a positive signal to investors and stakeholders.

JUWI will continue to play a significant role in this re-emerging market.

Moriconi: “JUWI’s pipeline of projects under permitting in Italy is currently above 500 MWp, projects that we develop from early stage to the very end of the authorization process. Our end-to-end approach to the business gives us a special and unique view on the market, where precision, attention to detail and dedication are the main pillars. We are currently growing our EPC and O&M business, including revamping and repowering of existing plants, which we believe will also play a major part in reaching the national targets.”
